The Crown is a Grade II listed
building that has been transformed
into a comfortable Inn and
Restaurant with many original
features still in place. Inglenook
fire places, flagstone floors and
carvings in wooden beams set in an
historic atmosphere for you to take
lodgings or dine. Situated between
Wenlock Edge and the Clee Hills,
in the Vale of the River Corve, the
Crown’s history dates back into
Tudor times when it was formed into
one of the Shropshire Hundred Houses.
The Crown was first licensed in 1790 and is still a central meeting point in the Shropshire countryside. 2 AA Rosettes for food, 4 star AA Inn classification,
listings in the Good Food Guide, Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide and numerous other awards are a testament to the commitment of the resident owners Richard and Jane, since they took over in 2001.

Set in an “area of outstanding natural beauty”, located within easy travelling distance of many interesting towns including the small historic town of Much Wenlock (the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games), Craven Arms (ideally positioned for walking and cycling) and the bustling market towns of Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury. The modern town of Telford offers good shopping facilities. The Crown makes a perfect base to stop whilst enjoying sights such as the Ironbridge Gorge, Stokesay Castle, Ludlow Castle or the Severn Valley Railway. If you really want to see the beauty of one of England’s undiscovered counties, a walk upon the Wenlock Edge or Long Mynd will astound!
